TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

The Montville Educational Foundation wanted to honor teachers across the district, so for Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2-6, the organization purchased Wild Cash lottery tickets for each of the 651 staff members and attached the message, “The MEF is wild about you, and we thank you a lotto for being such a wonderful teacher!” Attached to the back was a QR code so that teachers could get further information on writing a grant request, if they wished.

HEARTS OF HOPE

“This is probably one of the nicest grants we’ve ever received,” said MEF President Daria Senaldi. “It is just so heartfelt. In order for it to be actualized, it had to come through the students. We’re so happy that you’re painting the hearts. Sometimes you’re sad, or something bad happened, and you don’t really feel good. At that moment, it would really be nice if you received something nice, some note of happiness. That’s the joy that you are going to give to every single individual.”

BOOK VENDING MACHINE

“The Montville Educational Foundation was thrilled to be given this opportunity [to fund the machine,]” Senaldi said. “We loved it from the start, because when we thought about it, we said, ‘This is so exciting, because it really bridges the gap between literacy and encouragement for each child – to recognize the contribution they did for another child, or something good in and of itself.’ So we think the reward makes it so personalized.”
